Area Details

Sheikh Zayed City is a new Egyptian city of the second generation, located in Giza Governorate, and administratively affiliated to the New Urban Communities Authority. It was established by Decree No. 325 of 1995 of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with a grant from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development - Sheikh Zayed Grant - and is considered a suburb of Greater Cairo and a natural extension of it. Sheikh Zayed City is about 20 km from Lebanon Square in Mohandessin District and 28 km from Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo. It is bordered by the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, the extension of the 26th of July Axis, and 6th of October City. The city is about 220 meters above sea level and its area is about 9,500 acres. The population of Sheikh Zayed City is currently about 150,000 people, and it is expected to reach 500,000 people when its growth is complete.
